Lomi Lomi
This magical elegant massage is an ancient and sacred tradition passed down through generations of Hawaiian Healers. The Kahuna would take someone who was coming of age and place them on the table to receive the session from two to four Kahunas for several hours. The hope was that this would produce a vision of what contribution this young adult would make to the community. Today it is used to soothe the soul and allow everyone who struggles through day to day stress and opportunity for deep relaxation.
What is Lomi Lomi?
The Lomi Lomi practitioner uses elbow and forearm to apply light fluid pressure covering large areas of the body. Massage strokes continuously move up and down as well as under and over the body in order to receive intense relaxation as we confuse the brain, helping it to switch off so the body surrenders to calmness.
How is it different from a regular massage?
Lomi Lomi isn’t a run-of-the-mill massage. There are differences that are immediately noticeable. There is no bottom sheet to restrict the movement under the body and light draping in order to accommodate the long body length massage strokes. The massage itself consists of constant random movements. The music is tribal, with a stronger rhythm and Polynesian flavor. All of these things come together to create a unique and sacred space for one lucky enough to receive this massage.
Amy Grimes, Lomi Lomi practitioner has this to say,“Lomi Lomi is a beautiful massage to both give and receive. Clients often tell me that receiving this massage feels like floating in water with the waves gently moving their body. It is more than a massage. Receiving Lomi Lomi is an experience!”
It’s now easy to relax your mind and soothe your soul Hawaiian style without the hassles of travel. Amy is ready to help you plan your appointment today!
