Lymphatic Drainage
With Lymphatic Drainage we can heal trauma, boost our immune, detox and make ourselves a bit more beautiful. What are you waiting for?
I have had the opportunity to teach Lymphatic Drainage at Mind Body Institute, a massage school in Nashville, TN. What I love best about teaching this class is seeing the excitement grow when the students realize just how much this tiny gentle rhythmic movement can have such a big affect on the body! In the past few months I’ve had success using Lymphatic Drainage Technique (LDT) on a variety of problems with great results.
Lymphatic Drainage activates the lymph system in our body, making it more efficient. So why is this important to you? A more efficient system helps with reabsorbtion of fluids in the body and works great on reducing swelling from trauma. This is great for:
*Speeding up healing post-surgery
*Traumas such as torn muscles, sprain, joint dislocations, knee edemas, tendonitis, tendonsynovitis, *fractures, hematomas
*Facial paralysis such as Bell’s Palsy
*Premenstrual bloating
*Edemas associated with autoimmune systems or rheumatism
*Chronic pain associated with Fibromyalgia, arthritis and more
*Allergies and Sinus issues
When the lymphatic system becomes more efficient it also means that a larger volume of lymph is pushed through the system. When more lymph fluid is pushed through the lymph nodes, the lymph nodes create a higher number of lymphocytes – which means a big immune boost for you! Regular lymphatic work can help keep your immune stronger!
While often referred to as Lymphatic Drainage massage, this technique actually consists of small, extraordinarily light, slow pulls on the skin. The superficial Lymphatic system is located directly under the top layer of skin which means that light touch is very important to performing LDT. The pressure used is not often more than 5 grams, or the weight of a nickel. Despite this light touch, big results follow.
One of the best part of LDT is the fact that while it’s doing all of the wonderful things mentioned above it’s also working on your parasympathetic nervous system which means you will feel relaxed when your session is over. Its work on the nervous system also has antispasmic (decreases spasms) effects, not to mention a decrease in pain.
I have over 100 hours of advanced training in this modality, most of it through the prestigious Upledger Institute’s Lymphatic Drainage training program. Bruno Chickly, M.D. has developed this effective, intuitive system. His sound medical studies to prove it’s efficacy have garnered admiration and the trust of the medical community. Because of the complexity and depth of the lymphatic system, always make sure to inquire into your therapists training in order to make sure you’re receiving the best work possible!
All these things are just a small part of what LDT can do for you. We haven’t even touched on what it can do for Bell’s Palsy, arthritis, back pain, crazy Nashville allergies or the way it can make your face glow! To find out if Lymphatic Drainage is right for your situation, call me today!
